Health Humanities REAL Track 1

The Health Humanities minor "E" area REAL track 1 (18-19 credits) is open to all students except for Pre-Nursing and Nursing majors as well as other students whose majors require extensive clinical and professional placements. Pre-nursing and Nursing students should pursue track 2 of the Health Humanities minor (18-19 credits).

Curriculum

Required Core Courses for Track 1 (6 credit hours)

  • HHUM/ENGL 210: Narratives of Illness, Disability, and Caretaking (3 credits)
  • PHIL 215: Healthcare Ethics (3 credits)

Required Biomedical/Health Sciences Course for Track 1 (3-4 credit hours)

Select ONE course from the following list:

  • BIOL 104: Human Biology (4 credits)
  • BIOL 105: Biology for Health Sciences (4 credits)
  • BIOL 132: Biology of Cells and Microorganisms (4 credits)
  • BIOL 334: Microbiology (4 credits)
  • HLTH 111: Personal Health (3 credits)
  • HLTH 200: Wellness Lifestyle (3 credits)
  • NURS 321: Pathophysiology (3 credits)
  • PBHL 150: Survey of U.S. Public Health (3 credits)
  • Other 3-4 credit courses with permission of the program coordinator

Required Capstone Course for Track 1 (3 credit hours)

  • HHUM 410: Health Humanities Capstone Experience (3 credits), OR
  • HHUM 498: Independent Study/Capstone Experience (with permission of the Health Humanities Coordinator)

Electives for Track 1 (6 credit hours)

  • TWO approved electives that have different prefixes from one another (6 credits total)
