Graduate Teacher Preparation

Radford offers the master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (M.S. in Ed.) with licensure in the following endorsement areas:

Elementary Education (Grades preK – 6)

Middle School Education – English, Math, Science, or Social Sciences (Grades 6 – 8)

Secondary Education – English, Math, Science, or Social Sciences (Grades 6 – 12)

We also offer a traditional master’s degree in Special Education (M.S. in SPED) with licensure in the following Special Education endorsement areas:

General Curriculum (Grades K – 12)

Adapted Curriculum (Grades K – 12)

Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Grades preK – 12)

Visual Impairment (Grades preK – 12)

Early Childhood Special Education (Birth – Age 5)

To pursue one of these licensure programs:

1.      Contact the graduate program coordinator for the area in which you are interested.

2.      Apply to the College of Graduate Studies and Research.

You will work with your advisor to determine a Program of Studies – what classes to take and when you should take them, and when you should apply to the Teacher Education Program (TEP). While taking coursework, you will also work to complete Teacher Education Program admission requirements, including entry tests, and apply to the TEP the semester before you plan to begin field experience.
