Kristen Dehr is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who holds a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition from Winthrop University, where she also completed her dietetic internship.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from SUNY Buffalo State College.  She serves as the Program Director of the Didactic Program in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Kristen has professional experience in a variety of settings including acute care, transitional, long term care, and home care settings, where she has used core Dietetics skills in the areas of Clinical Nutrition, Foodservice Management, and Administrative Leadership.

She serves the profession as an active member of the Southwest Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a legislative advocate for advancing nutrition related policies to improve the nutritional status and health of people of Virginia and nationally.  She has served as the Treasurer of the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Her teaching assignments include Research Methods in Nutrition & Dietetics, Advanced Menu Planning and Demonstration, Food Science and Preparation, Life Stage Nutrition, and several Nutrition and Dietetics career development courses.  Her area of interest includes the intersection of food preparation and individual health and wellness decisions, and translating the science of nutrition into practical actions toward improved health and wellness.
