43rd Highland Summer Writers' Conference

2020 Conference

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions on assembling in public, we must cancel this year’s Highland Summer Writers’ Conference. However, both Diane Gilliam and Leatha Kendrick will facilitate the 2021 HSC and we are thrilled. We have not determined the 2021 dates yet, so stay tuned. For questions, please contact Theresa L. Burriss at tburriss@radford.edu

The 43rd annual HSC will be held at Radford University’s beautiful Selu Conservancy the entire week of July 13 - 17. Diane Gilliam and Leatha Kendrick will co-facilitate this year’s writing workshop. Interested individuals can enroll in the conference to obtain traditional three-hour course credit at the graduate or undergraduate level, or register through the Appalachian Regional & Rural Studies Center at a reduced rate for continuing education credits or to simply participate.  Gilliam and Kendrick will provide free readings to the public on Tuesday, July 14, and Thursday, July 16, at 7 p.m. in Radford University’s McConnell Library.
