OFFICIAL RULES

The Radford Alumni Classic 2020 is an individual stroke play tournament, using the Peoria Scoring System, recorded within the free 18Birdies App. To qualify you must play and post one (1) Qualified Round at a course of your choosing (par 70 or greater) between June 11, 2020 and June 25, 2020. Scores must be submitted through the 18Birdies App by 11:59p.m. PST on June 25, 2020. Specific details regarding Qualified Rounds are outlined within the 18Birdies App.

How does the Peoria Scoring System work?

With the Peoria Scoring Systems, six holes are secretly selected as the scoring holes. Golfers do not know which holes have been selected. Players tee off and complete their rounds, playing stroke play and scoring in the normal fashion.

At the end of the tournament, the six secret holes will be revealed and top performers will be shown on the Individual Stroke - Net leaderboard. This is the leaderboard from which the Radford Alumni Office will use the Qualified Round criteria to select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. A player's handicap for that round will be calculated based on the score on the six pre-selected holes.

A Peoria handicap is calculated by adding the player’s strokes over par on the selected hole, and multiplying that number by three. This will be the player’s allowance to be deducted from the gross score. The maximum score for each hole for allowance purposes is three over par.

Example:

A player scores 98 for a round. The player is 11 over par on the six selected holes.

11 x 3 = 33 stroke allowance

Net score is 98 - 33 = 65 Net

Tie Breaker

In the event that there is a tie, the USGA Recommended Method for tiebreakers will be used to determine the winner. If a tie still remains after this method is applied the winner will be selected based first on most birdies in their round, and then if still tied, we’ll award the tiebreaker to whoever made birdie first in their round.

Tournament admins reserve the right to contest and/or disqualify any questionable or suspect rounds.

By joining the tournament, participants agree to allow the Radford Alumni Office to use information listed on participant's 18Birdies profile for promotional purposes including, but not limited to, social media posts in the 18Birdies app, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

Eligibility

The Tournament is open to all Radford Alumni. All participants must be an active user of 18Birdies. Active user is defined by the participant using the 18Birdies app to score the tournament round.

Tournament rounds must be considered “Qualified” to be eligible for the prizes.

Prize Selection

Three (3) winners will be selected based on the top three tournament performers. The top three tournament performers are defined by the first three places on the net tournament leaderboard.

Three (3) “Social Media Shout Out” winners will be selected by Alumni Office staff members.

Winner Selection and Notification

The odds of winning are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received. Any attempted second entry shall be discarded.

Winners will be announced in the 18Birdies App as well as on social media. Additionally, winners will be notified by email or phone.

All prizes will be mailed out or delivered once the office re-opens at the beginning of August.
