Whether you prefer solo endeavors or group activities, there’s a place for you. Our flexible approach ensures everyone can participate, regardless of their passions or schedules.

Kickstarting this year-long journey, regional alumni chapters will lead service initiatives in their areas. But we’re not just giving back – we’re showcasing how Highlanders serve! And on this point, we need your help. Be a part of the movement by submitting your own community service event or taking the leap to start one. Where can I find out about scheduled events to join?
Visit our Radford University Alumni Association Facebook page for a complete listing of all scheduled events.

May I bring my spouse/partner/kids/friends?
Yes! If the event is child-friendly and has the room for all your volunteers. Please reach out to the Project Sponsor listed next to the event for parameters.

How do I submit an event?
Fill out the online form on our website. 

What happens when I submit an event?
You become the Project Sponsor. A member of our office will contact the Project Sponsor to confirm the project details. Then the service project will be added to our primary Alumni in Action event schedule, and you will receive an event toolkit in the mail.*

*To ensure that you receive a toolkit in time for your event, we ask that you submit events at least two weeks in advance.

What is in the toolkit?
The toolkit will contain tips to help maximize your event participation and some items to add Highlander pride to your event day!

What are my responsibilities when I submit an event?
When you submit an event, you assume the role of Project Sponsor/Point of Contact with our office. The Alumni Office will add your event to our primary tour calendar.

What are my responsibilities on event day?
The expectation is that you will attend your event, collect other alumni attendees’ contact information, and a group photo.

Will the Alumni Office help promote my event on social media?
Our office will promote the Highlander Hometown Tour in general and our primary event calendar specifically. It is your responsibility to promote and encourage attendance at your event.

What are my responsibilities after an event?
The expectation is that you will send the group photo and alumni volunteer list by email to alumni@radford.edu. Follow-through bonus! If you complete this step, you will receive an extra special thank you gift.

Can I sponsor more than one event?
Yes, absolutely! Please submit the events individually.

What if I volunteer on my own? How does that work?
After your event, please send us your full name, updated mailing address, how you volunteered, where you volunteered, and a photo by email to alumni@radford.edu. We will add you to our volunteer list, add your photo to our tour album, and send a thank you to your mailbox!
