FAQs

What is the Climb?

The Climb is Radford University’s current faculty and staff giving drive. We want to use this drive as a way to inspire and encourage faculty and staff from all sections of our Highlander family to participate in annual giving in order to raise our participation rate. You can learn more at www.radford.edu/climb.

Who can contribute?

All full-time employees at Radford University are encouraged to participate in the Climb.

What role does faculty and staff giving play in the success of the campaign?

Our collective commitment builds the foundation for philanthropic momentum to go beyond our offices and into the community, across the Commonwealth and beyond. The increase in participation sends a loud message of support and increases the likelihood that outside partners will join our effort and positively impact students at Radford University!

Why is participating in faculty and staff giving important?

Radford University prides itself on its efforts to support all members of the Highlander community. By giving back, you help us achieve this mission! Like many other universities, Radford University relies on a combination of state funding, tuition and philanthropy to supply its budget. Each year, it becomes increasingly important for Radford University to fund a bigger portion of the budget from philanthropy, thereby providing a financially stable foundation for us to build on for years to come.

How can I give?

  • Payroll Deduction: Employees have the unique opportunity to make contributions via payroll deduction. The payroll deduction process is started by visiting www.radford.edu, selecting OneCampus and searching for Payroll Deductions.
  • Online: You may also give one-time or recurring gifts via credit card online at connect.radford.edu/facultystaffgiving.
  • Check: You may mail a check to the Radford University Foundation by making your check out to “Radford University Foundation” and mailing it to Radford University (Office of University Advancement, P.O. Box 6893, Radford, VA 24142).

What is payroll deduction?

Payroll deduction is a convenient ways for faculty, staff and administrators to make an annual gift. You simply indicate the amount you would like automatically deducted from each paycheck, the start date, and where your support should be designated. Deductions can be established as ongoing or one-time.

How much should I contribute?

You determine the size and designation of your gift according to your own charitable priorities and capacity. Gifts of all sizes are appreciated and will count toward our participation rate. High participation among faculty, staff and administrators positively influences our rankings and private support from corporate and foundation partners.

When do I make my gift?

All gifts made by full-time employees between July 1 and June 30 count towards the participation rate in the Climb.

Can I designate my gift?

Tell us where to direct your support: student scholarships, a specific college or academic program, an athletics team, academic department or the arts. If you don’t have a preference, we encourage you to choose the Radford Fund for emerging needs across campus. A list of the most popular employee funds can be found at https://connect.radford.edu/facultystaffgiving.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
