All members of the CREU team, along with Dr. Lee, meet once a week on Fridays for an hour and discuss research, present information, ask questions, discuss progress and set future goals for the project. All meeting times, and everything accomplished in each meeting, is recorded on this page.

First official meeting of the semester. Group members received opportunity to ask questions, discuss goals, and get a brief overview of the project. Members read over proposal, reviewed the requirements and expectations, and became familiar with the project. Catherine Greene, Chloe Norris, and Nancy White gave a proposal to Eileen Hindmon of last years research materials. Chloe was given the assignment of starting the group website, while the other three members were assigned to look up and summarize modern articals concerning witricity.

The group met and discussed materials researched about modern applications with witricity and WSNs. The group was given the assignemtnt of working on programming in the new software. The group also was given material to read on Cplex.

The group met and discussed the Cplex reading materials, and went over all questions and concerns. Dr. Lee explained to the group her knowledge on the software, and what to expect with coding. We expect to obtain the software within the week.

The group met with their individual laptops to install VPN. The rest of the meeting time was spent downloading software, and making sure that everything functioned properly after installation.

The group met with their individual laptops attempt compiling code. The coding process was successful. Compiling and running the code was attempted, but not completed. The Group was given the assignment to research compiling the code by the next meeting.

The group met and discussed future goals and current progress. Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris worked more on writing cplex code, compiling and running it. Nancy White and Eileen Hindmon continued to work on the proposal and other documenting of the project.

Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris successfully compiled and ran the source code. This was the first successful attempt of running a program written in cplex, and getting fully successful results. Nancy White presented her current written materials and presented her work to the group.

Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris demonstrated to the group their source code, and ran it. Dr. Lee talked to the group about the optimization in the proposal, and explained the math component of the problem. The group was given the assignment to write an additional program that related to the optimization in the proposal.

The source code that Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris had written was pulled up on the projector. Dr. Lee commented on possible improvements and answered questions about general syntax and logic. Nancy White brought a copy of her revised proposal, and the group read it together and agreed to revise and proof read it.

(November 25 - December 8) FINAL SEMESTER MEETING

All group members met with Dr. Lee at different times before break due to final exams. Expectations and goals were set on what was expected over the break.

Week of January 23rd- Norris and Greene met on campus to further understand implementation of two dimensional arrays in cplex.(Chloe Norris, Catherine Greene)
Week of Feb 6th- continued research on witricity for paper. (Nancy White)
Week of Feb 13th- began following WiTricity the company on twitter to keep updated on new advancements the company was making.(Nancy White)
Week of Feb 20th- Norris and Greene examined previously written Java code to further understand implementing certain data structures in Cplex.(Chloe Norris, Catherine Greene)
Week of March 5th- continued research on charging mats/looked further into new developments with that technology.(Nancy White)
Week of March 12th- prepared presentation about completed research.(Nancy White)

Group members met with Dr. Lee to discuss progress and further work to be accomplished. Nancy White gave a brief presentation of her ongoing research she has been conducting this past semester. Nancy’s work can be found under the Documents tab. Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris discussed the current state of the Cplex program and mentioned the possibility of implementing a java simulation of a charging algorithm. The group considered presenting research in April with other Radford University research groups.

Group members came to an agreement to meet regularly every Friday at 3:00pm. All present members documented and dated research and progress made from December to the present meeting. All recorded progress is listed chrolologically. Catherine Greene and Chloe Norris discussed current progress with programming, and brought up their current issue with needing permissions to access the appropreate server. Permissions were granted to Greene and Norris by the end of the meeting. The Group also finalized and submitted their abstract to present research on campus in the near future.

Group members discussed content to be presented for the RU presentation. Nancy White presented more research about ongoing progress with witricity in the medical field. Catherine and Chloe presented progress with their programming, and will be meeting with Dr. Lee on April 4th to work on the optimization model.

Dr. Lee rewarded the successful group presentation with a trip to Starbucks. The group discussed further work to be done to wrap up the research and end the semester. Nancy White started to write up a summary about the years progress and outcome. The rest of the group members will also contribute to this write up.
