The New Radford.edu is Here

The Radford University Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is pleased to announce the launch of the university’s newly redesigned website at www.radford.edu. As one of Virginia’s leading institutions of higher learning, we want to show the world all that Radford University has to offer, while better meeting the needs of our web visitors. After all, our website is quite possibly the very first interaction someone may have with our university, and we want that first experience to be a positive one.

The new Radford.edu has so much more than just a new look. You will notice that it provides current students, faculty and staff, prospective students, parents, alumni, and friends with enhanced content, vivid imagery, and improved navigation to make finding information easier than before.

Admittedly, it has been a long road to get to where we are today, and we appreciate the hard work of the campus community to get to this point. Countless people played a role in the development of this site, and for your support and endeavors, we are grateful.

Should you have any concerns or encounter any issues when navigating the new Radford.edu please let us know at webcomm@radford.edu. We want to hear from you.

Departments or units interested in learning how they can take advantage of the new CMS and templates will have the opportunity to attend workshops in late January and February. To express interest, contact Jaime Hunt at jhunt7@radford.edu.

  • McGuffey 114 and Cook 318: height-adjustable podium, all-digital, touch-panel interface, Blue-Ray/DVD/VCR combo, ceiling mounted document camera, new projector and electric screen.
  • McGuffey 203, 206, and Walker 295: height-adjustable podium, all-digital, touch-panel interface, Blue-Ray/DVD/VCR combo, dual screen projectors (new for Walker 295, installed in McGuffey203 and 206) and electric screen.
  • Curie 147: new computers with Windows 7.
  • Russell 348, Curie 33, Cook 124, Cook 125: upgraded all computers to Windows 7.

All faculty members are encouraged to visit the classrooms in which they are scheduled to teach to familiarize themselves with the available technology and the layout of the rooms. Please contact the Technology Assistance Center at 831-7500 with any technology-related problems in these or any of the campus classrooms.

RefWorks replaces EndNote

Radford University purchased a campus-wide subscription to the bibliographic software package “RefWorks“ last summer that replaces “EndNote”, RU’s previous bibliographic software package .

“RefWorks” is a web-based service for users to save, organize and access references from any computer that has an internet connection. Users can easily insert references from different data sources into their papers and generate formatted bibliographies. “RefWorks” also facilitates collaboration with colleagues or other researchers at RU or globally.

McConnell Library offers “RefWorks” information sessions periodically and several reference materials to get you started can be accessed at https:www.refworks.com/Refworks. A connection to the Radford University VPN is required to access “RefWorks” from off-campus locations.

Users who are currently utilizing “EndNote” need to contact the Technology Assistance Center at 831-7500 to begin the process of transitioning to RefWorks. This will allow DoIT to identify those users that will be impacted when the license expires and EndNote is removed from all university computers. A reference guide for the conversion process can be found at http://acadcomp.asp.radford.edu/Refworks/endnote.html.
