In the Art Department at Radford University students may explore a broad range of art disciplines. Undergraduate students may focus on a particular area of interest within two-dimensional or three-dimensional studio art, art education, or art history and museum studies. Graduate students select an area of concentration within their degree program. The undergraduate and graduate catalog art sections offer detailed course listings and information on degree options.

Art faculty and facilities form an artistic synergy enabling our students to grow as artists and designers. Students are encouraged to study the time-honored studio disciplines as well as the technologically evolving fields of graphic design and animation. Professionally active professors enhance the ability to mentor and teach.

Our facilities provide a diverse environment for studio classes, art history lectures, technology demonstrations, and graduate studios. Digital classrooms and photography labs are found down the hall from traditional and computer studios. Our students may take advantage of the many exhibitions in the art museum's galleries.

“Thanks to art, instead of seeing one world only, our own, we see that world multiply itself and we have at our disposal as many worlds as there are original artists…”
Proust, cited in Eric Karpeles, PAINTINGS IN PROUST: A VISUAL COMPANION TO ‘IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME’ (Thames and Hudson: London, 2008), p. 7.
