COVID-19 Dashboard Update with Encouraging Trends Confirmed Once Again

Important Update on COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic at Radford University

Dear Radford Family:

Since the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester, Radford University has engaged in accountability and transparency in all matters related to our COVID-19 planning, response, and reporting efforts. Today, I am pleased to continue that commitment with the latest update and sixth installment to the COVID-19 University Dashboard, which is now available.

This past week marked 12 new confirmed cases from a total of 308 campus-based tests, representing a weekly positivity rate of 3.9 percent. Our first surveillance testing at Radford University Carilion (RUC) included 48 administered tests to 20 students and 28 employees with one positive result and a positivity rate of 2.1 percent. Our second mandatory testing for individuals participating in clinicals, specifically students and faculty through Carilion Clinic, included 153 administered tests with two positive results and a positivity rate of 1.3 percent. And, the Student Health Center is administering fewer campus-based tests and confirming fewer positive results for symptomatic students and close contacts, which is a reflection of the overall improved health of our student body.

Once again, our compliance and enforcement activities are proving to be successful. As we are beginning to approach the second half of the Fall 2020 semester, it is critically important for all Highlanders to remain committed to following Commonwealth of Virginia requirements, Radford University expectations, and public health guidance!

With Highlander Pride,
