ChemEd2009 Sponsors

Dear ChemEd 2009 Sponsor:

Sponsorship opportunities are now available for the 20th Biennial ChemEd 2009 Conference to be held August 2-6, 2009 at Radford University in Radford, Virginia.

ChemEd History

ChemEd conferences began in 1973 in Waterloo, Ontario.  It originally began as a group of high school teachers wanting to share ideas, classroom experiences, and laboratory experiments with other high school teachers.  Over the years, it has blossomed into sharing ideas with all teachers from kindergarten through graduate school.  Chemistry educators come from all over the world to share ideas and learn new ways to invigorate their classes.  ChemEd conferences typically include lectures, hands-on workshops, plenary speakers, chemical demonstrations, and social events.

ChemEd Attendees

The 16th Biennial ChemEd 2001 conference attracted more than 1000 attendees from the United States, every Canadian province, and more than 50 countries.  The majority of participants are high school teachers, eager to interact with other teachers.

Radford University

The “State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Radford” was founded by the Virginia General Assembly in the spring of 1910.  The school began as an effort to prepare teachers for Virginia’s expanding public school system.  The school opened its doors in September, 1913.  In 1924, the name was changed to Radford State Teachers College, with the state mandating that Radford prepare teachers for rural school systems.  The name was changed to Radford College in 1938.  The school became coeducational in 1972.  In 1979, the school became Radford University.

Many students prefer Radford University to larger universities due to the 22:1 student-to-faculty ratio that allows students to receive individual attention from their professors. Upwards of 9,000 students are enrolled at RU, which offers more than 112 undergraduate programs.  Radford University continues to emphasize teaching and learning as its priority.  With the emphasis on hands on instruction, Radford University is the ideal place to host ChemEd 2009.

Sponsorship at ChemEd 2009

By being a sponsor at ChemEd 2009, sponsors will be able to interact with over 1,000 international teachers who are looking for resources for future educational needs.  We hope that your company or organization will consider becoming a sponsor for ChemEd 2009.
