Satellites: NOAA-15, NOAA 16, NOAA 17 and NOAA-18, part of NOAA's 850km-high (530 mile-high) Polar Orbiting satellites
Ocean swirls on a clear day
This image was taken when NOAA-18 was directly between our sun and Earth--you can see the line of reflection in the ocean.
Southeast of The Bahamas the swirling ocean water makes a circular pattern as a current from the Gulf of Mexico exits to the Atlantic Ocean.
The same type of circular pattern may be seen at the southern end of Cuba.
The darker area in southern Florida is Everglades National Park and the (water-filtering) swamps surrounding the park.Click the image for a higher-resolution (~250k) version.
