NOAA's Hydrometeorologial Prediction Center (HPC) "Daily National Forecast" image shows a daily national weather prediction

Satellites: NOAA-15 and NOAA-17, part of NOAA's 850km-high (530 mile-high) Polar Orbiting satellites

 Cold front a-comin'
The false color image and the thermal image below show the clear delineation of the warm and cold areas on either side of the jet stream.
The mass of cooler air from Canada is expected to cool things down quite a bit from the high temperatures currently in much of the US.
