Ice breakup on Hudson Bay
This image shows Hudson Bay (Canada) and its ice
blanket. You can see the extensive network of cracks forming as the ice breaks
up for the spring.
The red lines are lined up with the land--it's just that the distinction between
the shoreline and the water is so obscured by the ice.
On the southwestern shore, the ice still extends out into the bay for several
kilometers, as well as extending inland quite a ways.
