Hudson Bay (Canada) in the winter
This image shows the ice covering Hudson Bay in
Canada, with its numerous cracks and fractures.
Note the ice at the southern edge of the St. Lawrence River.
This image also shows the extremely low angle of the sun at this far northern
latitude (around 600 north). This image was taken just before 11am
eastern time.
For perspective, you can see the northern tip of Maine in the lower right
portion of this image, and the upper part of Lake Superior in the lower left
portion.
