The Appalachian Mountains.
The morning shadows, along with typical morning fog, make the Appalachian
Mountains stand out in contrast to their surroundings.
This image shows the mountain range from its starting point in northwestern
Georgia, all the way through the Pennsylvania countryside; the end of the chain
in Maine is not shown in this image.
The yellow circle shows Radford, VA, where the
HRPT (High Resolution Picture
Transmission) antenna that pulled down this image is located on the roof of
Curie Hall of Radford University.
