A “.jar” file is a “java archive” -- a file which bundles all the different .java files (and any other files) in a directory into a single file. It is a popular way to distribute Java programs which consist of many files. It also is a way to bundle together all the files of one BlueJ project.
If you want to download a .jar file and open it from BlueJ, you have to
