NEW PLAYER INFORMATION

If you are interested in playing this upcoming season, then you will have to purchase your equipment on your own because the season starts 7 days after school begins. This isn't much of an inconvenience because it could actually end up being cheaper. You will need to purchase: Black Helmet, Black Pants, Red Socks, Red Belt, Red Facemask, Shoulder Pads, and Leg Pads. Normally the cost for our players runs somewhere in the area of $280-$300 ,not including the helmet decal and jersey which I will explain later, But because you have the freedom to order from anywhere, you could lower that if you shopped around. My recommendation for the cheapest place would be www.footballamerica.com This is a warehouse of overstock and discontinued products. We ordered here once as a club, but because we cannot depend on them to have 30 pairs of pads as opposed to 1, we switched companies, however they are really good. In terms of the jersey and helmet decal, we will have those waiting for the new players when you get there. This price is $60. So the total for pads and equipment can run about $300-$350, however you will be able to use this equipment for the rest of your college career. You keep all the equipment that you pay for.

The first year for new players is especially hard because every semester, players are required to pay "Dues" to keep the club alive. This allows us to travel, afford our coaches, purchase new equipment when needed, and everything else that goes along with the cost of football. So on top of your equipment, you also have to pay dues. However after you purchase the equipment, the only expense you will have for the rest of college is the semester due of $75. My board and I will be meeting in a few weeks to discuss whether it would be possible to lower the “new players” dues for the first semester to help with the cost of everything else. The date for dues is September 3rd.

Because the school cannot house the entire club before school start, we are asking that you try to find someone to room with if you can, and be back in Radford on the 18th of August. If you cannot make it, that’s understandable. I hope to see you next year, and if you have any further questions please let me know.

CONDITIONING INFORMATION

Coach wants anyone who can come back on the 18th of August to meet at 6PM on the far Dedmon field for conditioning. We have 3 and 5 man sleds in addition to the equipment used last year. Please show up in your helmet and shorts. If you do not have your helmet yet, please do not be discouraged, show up regardless.

DUE PAYMENT

Dues are due no later than the 3rd of September in order to participate in the Fall football season. The cost is $75, however we recommend payment of both semesters up front, in which case the cost who only be $140. Please make all checks out to Radford University Football Club.

Please excuse the lack of updates on the football website. Some majors make peoples' lives busier than others. Thank you for your understanding and not sending anymore rude emails. If you've been checking your inbox regularly, you should be up to date. If not, don't hesitate to contact one of the members of the executive board.

BASKETBALL GAME TONIGHT AT 7PM. As a Radford University Club Sport, we have an obligation to support other sports. Some of the guys decided that whoever is going to the Basketball game tonight at 7pm, wear your WHITE Jersey. Meet us in Dalton at 5:30 for dinner, and then we are all walking down to the dedmon center around 6:10pm. Again please come with us to support the basketball team. They will be there for our games if we show that we care.

Tuesday - November 13, 2007
The practice schedule page has been created and will be updated (hopefuly) in a timely manner.

Tuesday - November 13, 2007
The website has been updated with a few changes. The navigation buttons to the left have been altered in order to accomodate how we will be playing games (getting rid of the individual team names). So far, the roster is incomplete, I (Kevin Hall) will be working with Alex Hilton in getting it all set up. Right now there is a template sitting there for the offensive team with only two players. Check it out if you care to see a preview of what the roster page will look like.

Sunday - November 11, 2007
Just a reminder, Practice tomorrow 6AM Bissett football field. It will run approximately 1 hour. We will be running Physical Agility Drills to rank the team. We will discuss practice for the rest of the week. Please be ready at 6am. Practice starts at 6am, this does not mean you arrive at 6am. Thanks guys.

Friday - November 9, 2007
Just a few things we forgot to go over in the meeting last time:

To wash your jersey, turn it inside out and wash it in cold water. One of your teammates mentioned that on the University washers, the (bright colors) setting, is cold water. Please make sure before you wash it.

Also, since everyone now has Football Club apparel, we wanted to inform you all of a very strict rule that we have implemented. If you are caught drinking while wearing any of the clubs apparels you will be suspended for the next game. This includes Facebook pictures and solo cups. If you are going to drink whether you are 21 or not, please take off your jerseys or club sweatshirts because we can be removed from the Universities Clubs and Organizations List. Please respect the Football Club and this rule.

We will hopefully have the club roster and team photos up on the website soon. We will let you know when they are up so you can take a look.

All returns will happen within the next week or so. For those who have not received an item yet, please send me an e-mail. Ex: pants. Grounds for return are (Not fitting)- except jerseys. Do not attempt to return something because you do not like the way it looks.

We still really need help with each committee. So please e-mail president Alex Hilton if any of these interest you. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Tuesday - November 6, 2007
Wednesday 11/07/2007, we are having a meeting upstairs Heth Lounge C at 9pm. Please bring the items that are sized wrong such as your helmet. We have the jerseys, decals, and large shoulders pads that we didn't before.

We will be taking individual pictures for the website. Also remember to bring a copy of your insurance card if you want that to be in your file for away games.

Tuesday - October 30, 2007
Last night the Executive Board met and discussed what will be happening in the next few weeks. Friday the 2nd those large shoulder pads are due to arrive and Monday the 5th the jerseys are to arrive. We will be holding a meeting on the 7th, which is a Wednesday at 9pm, to hand out the rest of the equipment and take what needs to be shipped back for a size change. Please bring the equipment that you need to send back to this meeting.

We will be gathering information at this meeting such as, Emergency Contact, Height, Weight, Position Wanted, and you will need to fill out a Waiver. Please bring a copy of your Insurance card if you have one. You do not need this however it is best if we have it on file for away games. Also when you receive your jersey you will be asked take a picture for the website. As soon as we can, we will get a team photo for the website as well.

On a last note, we will also be discussing the first practice, which will be the 12th at 6:00am down at Bisset. For this practice you will only need your cleats. We will be ranking each player based on physical tests. Start jogging if you have been lazy all year. Thanks guys, hit me up if you have any questions.

Wednesday - October 24, 2007
The pads are here! We are still waiting on a few items to come in, and Football America messed up the pant order. Instead of 13 medium and 12 large, they sent 3 medium and 21 large. A few people are already having some sizing problems with the helmet, so what we are planning on doing is getting everyone the equipment they ordered, and noting who needs what size, for example: John needs a large helmet instead of his medium, next Timmy shows up, his large helmet is too big and he needs a medium, we'll swap them.

Alex Hilton will be in class from 10-4 today, give the Executive board until 6 to have everything sorted out... then you can come pick up your equipment. Please do not call Alex until 6 unless you desperately need him because his phone lit up every 4 minutes yesterday. Thanks guys, we'll be hitting soon enough.

Tuesday - October 9, 2007
The coach we had in mind, had a very hard time turning down the offer. Due to family obligations, he was unable to take the position. Rest assured the executive board is working very hard to find the club a coach. Before pads arrive we should have one in place, please give us time. Thanks you all for understanding.

Reminder: Thursday (October 11th) from 8:30-10:30 Heth Lounge C. Please come sometime during the 2 hours to turn in your equipment and due money. First come first serve on the jersey numbers. Have your order form filled out along with your money in an envelope stapled to the form. Remember, if you have an order form with $18.00 for the jersey, double that for the away jersey. If you are paying via check, please make them out to Football Club of Radford University.

Tuesday - September 25, 2007
There will be a football meeting this coming Thursday (September 27) at 9:00 PM upstairs in the Bonnie, Room 248. We will be voting on colors, talk about how the games will be played and how travel will work. We will also set a date for money to be due.

In the past week we have been very busy contacting Teams, Coaches, Football America, The Seaboard Commissioner, and our own people. Football America is sending us the exact cost each player will have to provide if they are purchasing all the equipment. Also the Commissioner is getting back to us on the exact amount of games we will play next fall.

On another note Foster Ridpath, the Sport Club Council Leader, has offered us a chance to get into the ordering of apparel such as hoodies, shirts, jackets, shorts, and sweatpants with our RU Football logo on it. If you would like to purchase any of these let me know.
T–shirts: $7.50 Hoodies: $16.50 Sweatpants: $10.00 Shorts: $10.00 Jackets: $32.00 (again these are all optional).

Tuesday - September 18, 2007
Mr. Molloy, commissioner of the Seaboard Conference, has now been in touch with the Executive Board. Our football club must receive a majority vote from the 4 eligible schools in the conference. We have so far received the “ok” vote from 2 schools; Stevens Tech Institute and George Mason. The other 2 schools, Williamson Free School and Valley Forge Military, have the issue of travel being taken into consideration. Williamson Free School agreed to play us at George Mason as a neutral school because of distance. If that were the case they would vote us “ok”. George Masons head coach Joe Pascale said that he doesn’t see a problem with that, however he has to make further checks. Valley Forge Military is checking into travel concerns as of yesterday and will get back with us within the next 2-3 days.

We only need a majority vote, so in the case that Mason allows us to play on their field against Williamson Free School, we should be awarded entrance in 2008. It looks promising.

As soon as we receive the “ok” we will have a meeting to talk about ordering equipment and to vote on the colors of the first Club Football Team at Radford University. Thanks everyone for being patient, it won’t be long.

A message from our club president, Alex Hilton:

"Hey guys, Just to let everyone know we have 44 people on the roster now. We were scheduled to have a meeting this week to talk about jersey colors, equipment, coaching, and when the funds are due. However we have been unable to get in direct contact with Mr. Jason Molloy, the commissioner of the Seaboard Conference, to verify our participation in the conference. We have been contacted by two schools in the conference. Apparently Mr. Jason Molloy has contacted each school in the conference to let them know Radford University is interested in joining the league. Stevens College of Technology and Valley Forge Military has been in contact with us. We have gained information from them, but again we need verification from Mr. Molloy. as soon as we get that verification, we will hold a meeting to discuss the above listed and work on preparing orders.

I want to apologize for how long this has taken. I have sent two e-mails and called Mr. Molloy once. The other Universities seemed to empathize with my struggle to get in contact with him. Apparently it's not easy. We will get moving as soon as we get a hold of him. Thank you all."

Good news for everyone involved with the club! We have a total of 113 people interested in the club. Hopefully that number will keep increasing. If you are interested, take a look at the discussion board (on Facebook - account required) and then e-mail the Executive Board at football@radford.edu with your name.

Alex Hilton (club president) has spoken with our new representative from Football America, and he said it only takes 3 days to ship all the equipment. The price of your full equipment will most likely be less than previously mentioned according to our new sales Rep. With that being said Club Fair is August 24th, and we will be ordering equipment on August 31st. You will need the full amount of your equipment and your first semester dues handed in by August 31st. We will be holding a vote on August 29th or 30th to determine the color and name of each team, and to receive your money and you will be given a receipt.

Thursday - August 9, 2007
Football Club of Radford University's website has been given a new layout and updated with more reliable code. As you may have noticed already, many of the links are inactive. This is obviously due to the fact the season has not begun yet.
