Professional Summery: Jon
Poole is an Associate Professor and Coordinator for the
Physical and Health Education Teaching Program at Radford University. He has taught previously at both the University of Utah and Virginia Tech. He is an advocate for a more coordinated
approach to teaching physical education and health education in K-12 schools
with his professional interests including promoting physically active and
healthy living for K-12 students, health-related fitness education, and
teaching lifetime sports and physical activities. He has contributed several books and dozens
of articles and presentations at regional and national conferences over the
past 10 years. He currently teaches elementary school and secondary school
teaching methods courses and supervises student teachers completing internship
teaching responsibilities in physical and health education. He has been a recipient of a University
Service Learning Educator Award and the Virginia Association for Health,
Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (VAHPERD) College Physical Educator
of the Year Award.
