Fernando Porras won the Exemplary Performance Graduate Award in 2003. His work is inspired by his experiences with the Warao people who live
in the Orinoco Basin near his hometown of Maturin, Venezuela. Mr. Porras uses the intimate medium of drawing to record the faces of his subjects.
These drawings inform his paintings.
