MUSC 202 302 402 Clinical Orientation to Music Therapy

Syllabus

Course Format:

The primary emphasis of this course is to get practical experience working with various populations in the field. The student is under the direct supervision of either a professional full-time music therapist or the graduate assistant for the Radford Program. In addition to application skills, simple documentation skills will be developed throughout the levels of this course.

Workshops:

The music therapy workshop is held every Monday at noon. Each student is required to attend the workshop if enrolled in the course. This is a wonderful opportunity to practice your MT skills with your peers and receive feedback before going out in the field yourself. The workshop requirements vary depending upon your level of study.

Other Class Activity:

We will have occasional guest speakers in class. These might include professional music therapists as well as professionals from outside of the field. Other topics will be presented by both the professor and the graduate assistant on an as-needed basis.
