Curating with the automated process

1) Things you need:
a) Deja vu database found at DEJA VU
b) DF-to-word document converter at PDF Online
b) If the PDF reader cannot convert the document to text form use the website PDF 2 WORD , then the article has to be uploaded and saved.
c) MS word 2007.
d) Foxit reader.
a) The papers are organized in a sequential order to help maintain consistency in the collaborated effort of the curation team.
b) Once a pair without any initials was identified the individual must edit the information next to the paper by adding his initials before starting to work on the pair.
a) Most of the PDF readers can export the document in text form
a. Use the compare function in MS word under the review tab.
b. Under compare two versions of the same document.
c. Original for earlier and later document for revised.
d. The black text is the similar section needed for the process. The red text (underlined words are added to later and slashed out words are deleted from the original) in the MS word document identify the dissimilar parts between the documents.
5) To obtain the same outcome as the paper to paper method, Foxit reader was used to highlight the PDF file by using the commenting tools found in the tools menu or by using the float menu.
6) Save the highlighted text from Foxit and upload it to the database.
7) Data was collected:
a. Number of shared figures/graphs/tables/charts/pictures/etc.
b. Number of shared references in the later article. Example: If the later article has 7 references, and 4 of them also appear in the earlier article's reference list, you would write "4/7 = 57%".
c. How similar the data is, if it's all the same, if the numbers have been changed slightly, etc. (1-5, with 5 being identical).
d. If the later article cites the earlier article in its references (does not count in the number of shared references if it is stated).
