Extra Credit opportunity:
Any of the problems at projectEuler.net.
The amount of extra credit can vary significantly,
depending the difficulty of the problem, and the amount of
mathematical insight used to achieve the solution.
You can use any language and standard libraries in your solution.
(Note that language-choice can effect your extra credit:
Using Mathematica to compute the 1-billionth prime is trivial (built-in).
Using C to do the same thing requires both programming work,
as well as mathematical insight to make the problem tractable.)
- hw13—graphs, paths, due Dec.09 (Sun).
- hw12—FSMs; matching isn't due until Nov.30 (Fri),
but do read and think about the matching problem before lecture.
(soln)
- hw11—counting, concluded: reading about grammars (soln)
- hw10—Reading about counting: extra credit: structural induction
- hw09—sums, induction: reading about structural induction, recursion,
and
hw09-soln.html
- hw08 out, due Oct.23 (Tue).
Reading: integers; binary arithmetic § 3.4, 3.6
(5ed: 2.4, 2.5).
(The problems include future reading.)
