Extra Credit
You may earn some extra-credit by solving problems at codingbat.com.

You must register using your email address @radford.edu.
Then,
you must then go to prefs > Share To ibarland@radford.edu.
Finally, email me when you have completed problems.

You can earn 3pts for each problem in an "easy" category,
6pts for "medium" (usually 1 loop),
and
9pts for "hard".
You do not get credit for the “Warmup” problems
(since they have the answer available).
1No more than three problems from a single group
(e.g. three String-1 problems and three Array-1 problems
is okay).

You can earn up to a maximum of 30 homework pts.
(This is because the site only stresses some of the skills required for ITEC120.
But I'm not sure what the exact limit should best be;
see me if you've solved more than 30pts and want to tell me why
increasing the limit would increase class learning.)

Note that the site has a few idiosyncracies,
the biggest being that you can't make static methods`
(even though morally, every single one of the methods should be static).

For the difficult problems, you will probably want to write helper functions
(even if the problem doesn't explicitly ask for them.)

I will allow both Java and Python solutions (but only 150% credit if you do the
same problem in both, rather than 200%.)

This is a bit experimental, so all the above guidelines might be tweaked.
Don't abuse the system, and let me know what you find encouraging/discouraging!

Extra Credit, pt. II
(up to 9pts) You may solve up to three additional codingbat.com "hard"
problems —
Java > All Java Sections... > String-3 and Array-3.
These tend to be nested-loop problems;
you can write a main method that calls a helper method each time through the loop,
and
(Note that codingbat.com *does* allow helper methods.)
