Post-Master's Admission Criteria

  1. A Master of Science (MS) degree from a nationally accredited school and a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
  2. Aminimun undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale).
  3. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4.0 scale) from all academic institutions attended.
  4. An unrestricted Registered Nursing License in Virginia or state of practice.
  5. A minimum of one year of full-time (2,000 hours) clinical practice as a RN.
  6. If certified as an NP or CNS in any discipline send this data.
  7. Completion of the Radford University graduate application process and application fee.

  8. Curriculum vitae or resume.
  9. Completion of undergraduate courses in statistics, health assessment, and nursing research.
  10. Professionally written letter describing career goals and how a graduate credential will assist in meeting those goals. Additionally, a sample of previous academic writing or publication also needs to be included.
  11. Three recommendation forms and three letters of reference from practicing nursing or medical professionals, nurse educators, or employers specifically addressing the applicant’s potential for success in the DNP program.
  12. Qualified applicants who meet admission requirements will be interviewed by the Graduate Admissions Committee  

  13. Completion of a criminal background check and health record requirements. Applicants are denied admission for findings that prevent participation in clinical agencies or licensure.
  14. Foreign applicants whose native language is not English must achieve an acceptable score on the TOEFL examination and submit an approved credential report for coursework completed outside of the United States.
