Augustmester

What is Augustmester?

Augustmester enables you to take an online class before arriving on campus. The online class will be provided in a summer session that takes place from August 1 to August 19. Before coming to campus in the fall, you will be able to select one (1) of thirteen (13) courses that will be offered in an asynchronous online format. Asynchronous means you will be able to log on and complete the course from home at times that are most convenient to you, and as long as you complete the requirements of the course, you will show up on campus having already completed a high-demand, 3-credit course.

How do you get started?

Continuing Students: register through MyRU or contact your advisor today.

Transfer Students: scroll down below the freshmen information to read the steps you need to complete.

Qualifying Freshmen: complete the following steps to make your decision and reserve your seat.

  1. Review all the information on the Summer Session website. Pay particular attention to the Tuition and Fees section, which details the costs and payment deadlines to participate in the program. It is also important to verify that you will be available to dedicate the time necessary (i.e., approximately 20 hours per week) to take an online class from August 3 to August 21.
  2. Discuss this decision with your parents and/or guardians. Due to the financial commitment and time required to participate in Augustmester, it is critical that this decision is made in coordination with your family.
  3. Rank the available course options in order of interest. We have reserved 10 seats in each of the 6 classes available for high achieving incoming freshmen. These classes are the ones we are asking you to rank. We will attempt to accommodate your first choice and your individual academic advising center will review the selection to ensure the class fits within the approved program and major you plan to pursue at RU. These classes will be first come first serve. If it does not meet a requirement in your major or if the class fills up prior to registration we may suggest an alternative class. Along those lines, your ranking will help us to substitute with a second or third choice if your first choice does not work out. To rank your classes in order of interest, please click here.
  4. Pay all tuition and fees by July 20, 2015. You can make payments by going through the MyRU Portal, clicking on the Finance icon and Student Accounts section. Each class will have a maximum of 20 students per class and once we reach this maximum the class will be closed to additional enrollment.
