We are all keeping our fingers crossed that commencement will be a spectacular day with beautiful blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70s; however, even if the weather does not cooperate with our plans, we want to be sure that your day is still spectacular!
In the event of an inevitable inclement weather forecast (heavy rain, thunderstorms or high winds) for Saturday, May 5, a decision to execute the inclement weather plan will be made by 6 p.m. on May 4 and no later than 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, if inclement weather is expected.
Please watch for public announcements on local radio, television stations and Radford University’s website and social media sites.
The inclement weather plan
The Commencement map [PDF] includes the locations of the ceremonies in the event of inclement weather.
Due to inclement weather, there will be no university-wide ceremony. Graduates and their guests should go to their respective college ceremony at the following times and locations:
||College of Education and Human Development
College of Visual and Performing Arts
|Noon||Artis College of Science and Technology||Bondurant Auditorium|
||College of Business and Economics
Waldron College of Health and Human Services
|4 p.m.||College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences||Dedmon Center|
No advance tickets will be given and space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Every effort will be made to accommodate attendees; however, space could reach capacity and overflow space will be provided in another location within the Dedmon Center. Attendees will be directed to the overflow area should it be necessary. The Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center will be open all day for graduates and their attendees to use prior to their college ceremony.
The Bonnie Auditorium will also be an alternative location live streaming the ceremonies being held in the Dedmon Center.
