Fitness Center at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital

Radford University students in Roanoke have access to the fitness center located at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH) on the 1st floor. It is available to the entire Radford University community in Roanoke, including students, faculty and staff from Radford University Carilion (RUC) and The Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC).

Roanoke students can access the Fitness Center at CRCH by using their prox card. Please contact RUC Student Affairs office (located on the 4th floor of CRCH) with any prox card issues or concerns.

Hours of Operation

In general, the Fitness Center is open 24/7 while RUC is in session. During the academic term, the fitness center may be closed for short periods if the Health & Exercise Science Class is conducting a laboratory. In such cases, these closures will be noted on the fitness center door.

Carilion Wellness - Radford University Carilion Students ONLY

Radford University Carilion (RCU) students can join Carilion Wellness at no additional cost. Membership is paid through the fees that are part of annual tuition. RUC students need to complete a membership application at the beginning of each school semester to have access to all four convenient Carilion Wellness locations. Membership applications are available at the Roanoke (Starkey Road) Carilion Wellness location at 4508 Starkey Road.

What is Carilion Wellness?

Carilion Wellness is the chain of fitness centers operated by Carilion Clinic, RUC’s partner in education and healthcare. Each location offers opportunities for:

  • group exercise, like classes in water aerobics, yoga, cycling, jazzercize, Pilates, Zumba, Les Mills and much more;
  • personal fitness, including free weights, machines, cardio equipment, functional training, pickleball and racquetball (Roanoke); and
  • therapy and rehabilitation services for an additional fee, like medical programs, personal training, InBody assessments, swim lessons, karate (Botetourt) and massage therapy (Botetourt).

Plus, you can swim in the indoor and outdoor pools, run or walk on the tracks and more!

RU Outdoors

Radford University students in Roanoke have access to all the RU Outdoors programs. Certain programs will pick up Roanoke students at the RUC 3rd floor lobby. Student Recreation and Wellness Center and Other Facilities in Radford

All currently enrolled fee-paying students at Radford University have access to the Recreation and Wellness Center, Peters Hall Recreation facilities and the outdoor recreation complex in Radford. This includes Roanoke students enrolled in classes at Radford University Carilion (RUC) or the Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC).
