Important Update on Masking Requirements for Main Campus

Important Update on COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic at Radford University Message from Interim President Carolyn Ringer Lepre, Ph.D.

Dear Highlander Family:

At Radford University the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and their families are paramount. Based upon updated guidance from the CDC, VDH and the substantial transmission rate of COVID-19 in our area, effective August 16, 2021, face masks are required in indoor spaces regardless of vaccine status. This includes classrooms, common spaces, dining areas unless someone is eating, or other indoor areas where multiple people can gather or engage.

As individuals on campus continue to receive the vaccine and provide documentation, and as vaccination rates continue to increase overall, we will continue to monitor our progress and review any additional COVID-19 guidance to determine any changes to the duration of the masking requirement on main campus. Individuals working alone in private workspaces do not need to wear masks.

All students living in residence halls are strongly encouraged to wear face masks in hallways, lounges and common spaces, as well as when visiting another resident (room other than their own). Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated residents are expected to wear face masks while anywhere except their assigned room.

More information about Radford University’s COVID-19 response is available at our Campus Reopening website.

With Highlander Pride,

Carolyn Ringer Lepre, Ph.D.
Interim President
