COVID-19 Dashboard Update Shows Continued Efforts of Dedicated Highlanders as Fall Classes Conclude

Dear Radford Family:

As classes have concluded and finals are being administered, I am pleased to share the latest installment and thirteenth update to the COVID-19 University Dashboard, which is now available on the University’s Reopening website. This most recent update is reflective of the University’s semester-long effort to engage in transparent reporting, as well as robust planning and thoughtful implementation, in response to the COVID-19 global health pandemic.

Following a slight uptick in cases a month ago, the University has continued to slow the spread of COVID-19! This past week marked 124 campus-based administered tests with five positive results, representing a weekly positivity rate of 4.03 percent.

Yesterday, exit testing was offered at Radford University Carilion for students, faculty, and staff. And, today is the second day that exit testing has been offered to students, faculty, and staff on the main campus. The results of exit testing will be shared this Friday as the final dashboard update for the Fall 2020 semester will be published on the Reopening website and shared with the campus community.

Following the semester break, weekly dashboard updates will return as we begin the Spring 2021 semester with initial testing data being shared on January 19, 2021, the first day of classes. The initial data will provide results from re-entry testing, which will be based on a prevalence model. Let’s finish this semester strong with the continued efforts of dedicated Highlander students, faculty, and staff!

Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
