Graduating students awarded at Davis College of Business and Economics ceremony

Six business students who will graduate this month received acknowledgment at the Davis College of Business and Economics Honors Ceremony, held Dec. 1.

“We are recognizing demonstrated excellence, both in and out of the classroom, and that is the reason why they have been selected by their faculty in their respective disciplines,” Dean Joy Bhadury, Ph.D., said in his opening remarks at the top of the event, which was held virtually.

The Outstanding Student Award recipients selected by the department for Fall 2021 were:

Accounting, Lillian McLane ’21 of North Beach, Maryland.

Economics, Benjamin Jones ’21 of Radford, Virginia.

Finance, Braxton Gilmer ’21 of Pearisburg, Virginia.

Management, Autumn Shortridge ’21 of Christiansburg, Virginia.

Marketing, Ramiro Banuelos-Haro ’21 of Garner, North Carolina.

MBA: Nya McCutcheon, MBA ’21, of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Most of the students recognized are from the New River Valley or currently live and work there, utilizing the skills of their majors in their current employment or seeking to do so.

“We recognize those among us … who have given extra and are to be rewarded for a job well done,” Bhadury told the viewers and award winners.

“We really are recognizing the heart and soul of the Davis College of Business and Economics.”
