Radford University honors faculty and staff at 2017 Employee Service Awards
Radford University recognized nearly 200 employees for their dedication and service to the university and the community.
Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill addressed attendees during the April 11 Employee Service Award program.
“You have shown exemplary service to your departments and Radford University. Through your diligence, you lead and model commitment and enthusiasm to those around you, especially our students,” President Hemphill said. “Thank you.”
President Hemphill noticed that every aspect of Radford University’s operation was represented at the awards. “Like a jewel has many facets, so does Radford University. Like a jewel, Radford sparkles and shines,” he said.
Every year, two employees are presented with Presidential Service Awards. Donna Alley, RU Express and Parking Services manager, was the first recipient. Alley has been with Radford for nearly 30 years and has served in a variety of departments on campus.
David Horton, assistant to the Dean of the College of Science and Technology, received the other Presidential Service Award for his nearly 25 years of service to the university. Each received a certificate and $1,000 award from the Radford University Foundation.
Both recipients thanked the Foundation for the awards.
Two employees were recognized for 40 years of service, three for 35 years of service and 15 for 30 years of service.

President Hemphill also thanked all retirees for their service to the Radford University family and community.
The Employee Service Awards are presented each spring to honor the university’s faculty and staff and is coordinated by the Department of Human Resources.
