Kemp appointed to Roanoke-Blacksburg Innovation Network board

Radford University Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Danny Kemp has been appointed to the Roanoke-Blacksburg Innovation Network (RBIN) Board of Directors.

The RBIN is a nonprofit organization working to develop an innovation ecosystem in the Roanoke and New River valleys through entrepreneurial development, industry-education partnerships, talent development and recruitment and marketing and awareness.

The network is comprised of leaders from different sectors, such as local government, higher education and the business community.

"It will be a privilege to serve on the RBIN Board of Directors," said Kemp, who came to RU in 2006. "I want to do all that I can to maximize economic opportunity for the citizens and businesses in the region by helping to build an entrepreneurial and innovative culture for high impact industries."

Kemp has more than 30 years of information technology experience.

At RU, he has provided executive leadership in information technology infrastructure, enterprise systems, technology support services, web strategy and interactive media, electronic engineering and communication services and IT project management and Information security.  He oversees the planning, evaluation, procurement, deployment, management and operation of IT systems in support of strategic objectives and university operations.

Prior to coming to Radford, Kemp worked at Mississippi State and Wake Forest universities.
