Spring 2018 Commencement Message

Dear Graduates:

I write to you as you prepare for this week’s Commencement Ceremony and other activities. I know that you, as well as your family, friends and loved ones, are excited to celebrate this significant milestone as you transition in both your personal and professional lives. I look forward to celebrating with each of you during the University’s Commencement Ceremony to be held this Saturday (May 5, 2018) beginning at 11:00 AM on Moffett Lawn.

With this year’s ceremony structure, I will shake hands with you and your fellow graduates as you have your name called and walk across the stage in front of your family, friends and loved ones. Once all graduates have returned to their seats, I with the authority of the Radford University Board of Visitors will formally confer degrees upon all degree candidates who have successfully met the prescribed requirement of their respective degrees. The conferral of degrees is a memorable and important part of the ceremony and one that you, your family, friends and loved ones should not miss. Again, I look forward to seeing you this Saturday as we join together for this special occasion.

As you leave Radford University, please know you have my continued support and positive encouragement. No matter where life takes you…you will always be a Highlander!

With Highlander Pride,

Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
