Assessment Research Grants
In spring 2013, the Provost’s Office provided seed money for a new initiative to make assessment research grants available to faculty. The central purpose of the grant program was to provide support and incentives for a sustainable assessment culture at Radford University. It was anticipated that this grant program will encourage and facilitate the development of assessment findings that will enhance student learning.
The grant program funds a variety of projects that assess new approaches to teaching and learning. All proposals aimed at conducting systematic, research-based assessment, developing or refining assessment methods, or furthering the incorporation of assessment into academic program decision-making are given full consideration. Projects related to assessment of student learning, or continuing development of assessment for program improvement emanating from prior assessment results also are favorably considered.
The maximum grant is, in most cases, limited to $2,500 per proposal. Proposals are evaluated based on their potential to accomplish the stated goals that may guide future program planning and assessment. The grant is administered annually through the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Quality Improvement in the Provost’s Office.
