RUC Academic Support Services and the Harvey Knowledge Center have several distance options for tutoring, coaching, and writing support.

Roanoke Campus Academic Support Services

Students enrolled in courses through the Roanoke campus can continue to use Starfish to make appointments for subject tutoring, PASS, and writing help. Roanoke campus students can log into Net Tutor through My RU/RUC. For questions concerning Roanoke services, please contact Sarah Cox at scox1@radford.edu or Al Overstreet at aoverstreet1@radford.edu.

Main Campus Harvey Knowledge Center

Students enrolled in courses through the main campus can continue making appointments using Starfish or by emailing the Harvey Knowledge Center at hkc@radford.edu. Main campus students can log into Desire2Learn to access Net Tutor. Log in to D2L

Click Radford University Support at the top

Select Net Tutor from the List

Find your subject in NetTutor’s list and select the service you’d like to use: Live Tutoring, Drop off a Question, Drop off a paper

Tips for Online Learning

  • Stay in contact with your professor
  • Check your email and D2L frequently for updates or changes
  • Pick certain times to work on the class and put away all distractions during that time
  • Take notes—even if all the material is available online
  • Keep a planner or calendar with all assignments or due dates
  • Break assignments down into smaller tasks
  • Set your own deadlines for tasks
  • Contact classmates or set up a study group
  • Reach out to your professor or other campus services if you need help
