Bruce Mahin, professor of music and CEO of Mahin Media, was featured in the Hollywood Times for his presentation “Digital Music Publishing: The Complete Package” at the Generation Next program at the 113th Annual National Association of Music Merchants Show that took place in Anaheim, California Jan. 22, 2015.

“This program is the educational arm of the worlds largest music product trade show,” Mahin said.

The association is a not-for-profit organization striving to strengthen the music product industry as well as promoting the enjoyment and benefit of making music.

Mahin’s presentation discussed the need for the recording industry to reinvent itself in light of changes in retail behaviors resulting from digital streaming, electronic file sharing and the increased use of mobile devices for music video playback.

Fredwill Hernandez, the reporter for the Hollywood Times, happened to attend Mahin’s presentation and approached him afterward with questions and a request for a photograph. Hernandez  said that he thought Mahin’s talk was enlightening for its consideration of the impact new technologies have on the music business.

“I was thrilled to receive attention from a major entertainment news service, especially in a town that is so attuned to the entertainment business,” Mahin said. “I hope my insight and experience in the music business may help students attending my presentation create more effective marketing strategies for music sales in the future.”
