Faculty and students plant 1200 trees over Spring Break
Over Spring Break, Radford University students & faculty planted 1200 mixed hardwood and conifer trees on former mountaintop removal coal mine in Stoney Fork, Kentucky. In teams of two, the students planted the dormant, bare root seedlings using dibble or KBC planting bars.
Some of the trees planted include: red and white oaks, hickory, persimmon, dogwood and American chestnuts.
Biology Associate Professor Matt Close was one of the group leaders. Several biology undergraduates assisted, including Luc White (pictured to left).
