Pre-Business Program
Prior to admittance to a business major*, all students pursuing the B.B.A. degree must complete the pre-business program consisting of:
- MATH 125: Finite Mathematics for Business and Economics**
Alternatively, students will also receive credit for MATH 126: Business Calculus OR MATH 138: Precalculus OR MATH 169: Calculus I with Integrated Precalculus II OR MATH 171: Calculus and Analytic Geometry I (formerly MATH 151)
- STAT 200: Introduction to Statistics
- ECON 105: Principles of Macroeconomics
- ECON 106: Principles of Microeconomics
- ACTG 211: Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
- ACTG 212 Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting
* If you wish to pursue the BBA degree, you are classified as pre-accounting, pre-economics, pre-finance, pre-management, pre-marketing (or if you have not yet decided on a specific business major, pre-business).
** Students in catalog years before 2018-19 pursuing the BBA or students pursuing the BBA in Economics must take MATH 126 (or MATH 169 or MATH 171)
Notes
- Starting in Fall 2016 and prior to taking 300-400 level business courses, students must (1) earn a 2.25 overall GPA and earn a 2.00 pre-business GPA upon completion of all pre-business requirements and (2) complete an electronic application to be admitted to the business major of their choice.
- Students in catalog years prior to Fall 2016 must earn a cumulative 2.00 pre-business GPA to be admitted to the business major of their choice and take 300-400 level business classes.
- Starting with the Fall 2015 semester, ECON 105/106 are now listed as ECON 205/206. If you have already received credit for ECON 105 and/or ECON 106, do NOT register for ECON 205 or ECON 206 unless you need to retake the course. If you have any questions, please contact your adviser.
