Radford University Named In "Best in the Southeast" Review

RADFORD -- Radford University is one of the best colleges and universities in the Southeast United States according to The Princeton Review. The New York based education services company selected the school as one of 139 institutions it recommends in its "Best in the Southeast" section on its website feature 2009 Best Colleges: Region by Region

In the profile on RU, The Princeton Review says “Students come to Radford University for the small class sizes, residential community, dedicated professors, and academic excellence.”

BestThe honored schools were selected primarily for their excellent academic programs, based on institutional data collected from several hundred schools in each region, site visits to schools, and the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisors.  Princeton Review also analyzed what each school’s customers – their students – reported about their campus experiences at their schools on an 80-question student survey.

The 139 colleges The Princeton Review chose for its "Best in the Southeast" designations are located in twelve states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.   The rankings place Radford University in the top 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges.

“We are delighted to be recognized by a reputable organization like The Princeton Review," said RU President Penelope W. Kyle. "We are very proud of our wonderful faculty and of the ever-improving programs we offer.  Our '7-17' strategic plan is aimed at taking this institution to greater and greater heights and this is an indicator that we are on track."

With an enrollment of nearly 9,200 students, Radford University’s seven colleges offer a diverse curriculum of more than 140  degree programs or areas of concentration at the bachelors,  masters, educational specialist, and doctoral levels,  focused on student achievement and career preparation.  RU is located in the scenic New River Valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia.
