Fourier Analysis of Piecewise Functions

This notebook develops the procedures in calculating Fourier series using MathView. Again, using MathView to handle the detailed manipulation allows us to concentrate on the more general principles and techniques required by the analysis.

Let's have a look at a simple notebook example where the Fourier series approximates a unit step function at x=0 and calculate the coefficients.

Now construct the approximation and compare it to the original function.

We have now completed the calculation without having to concentrate on the detail of the integration and in the confidence that the manipulation has been reliably performed by MathView.
