Women's
Studies sponsors a Brown Bag Series each year. Once a month a speaker presents
on a topic concerning women's studies. These are informal gatherings that
provide an opportunity to learn more about Women's Studies issues. Students
and faculty members are welcome. Refreshments are available, but you are
more than welcome to bring your own lunch. On November 9th, Dr.
Jeff Aspelmeier, from the Psychology Department, will be presenting
"Sexual Abuse & Attachment in Young Females". On
December 4th, we welcome Dr. Pippa Brush. She will be presenting,
"Writing on the Body: Cosmetic surgery and the Metaphors of Feminist
theory". In February Lucy Hochstein will be presenting,
"Legal Issues in Domestic Violence", and in March, Dr.
Kevin Everett presents "Why Don't College Women Fear Acquaintance/Date
Rape?" In April, Dr. Suchitra Samanta will be
presenting, " Powerty, Culture and Women's Education: an NGO's
Efforts in a Calcutta Slum Area". |
