Flexible, affordable and durable communication.

The classic Bible illuminated manuscript took several monks two years or more to produce and would have cost about 1000 guilders in 1470 Venice. A printed copy of the Bible around the same time would have cost one or two guilders.

The imprint of the most famous Venetian printer, Aldus Manitaus.

The Four Voyages of Christopher Columbus; Being His Own Log-Book, was distributed all over Europe and contributed much to his later fame.

 

It wasn't just that Martin Luther wrote 95 Theses contradicting the teachings of the Catholic Church.

The impact came when they were printed in 1517.
