Your Mission: This is a hands-on lab course, and most of our time will be spent working with computer applications to create Web sites. You should be prepared to spend several extra hours per week on your assignments outside of class in any of the computer labs around campus or at home if you have the necessary software.

Esprit de corps: In this class we will try to maintain an open learning club environment. After introducing the topic of the day, you should feel free to ask questions. When we move on to the exercises for the day, please feel free to consult with, or to help, other students in their fight against the dark side of computing.

Textbook: (Optional) ADOBE DREAMWEAVER CS3 HANDS-ON Megan

If you already understand the material and simply need to take the class, your participation in the "learning club" environment is helpful and can become part of your project extra credit work. Keyhole Markup Language -- Used for expressing geographic annotation and visualization on existing or future Web-based, two-dimensional maps and three-dimensional Earth browsers. KML was developed for use with Google Earth, which was originally named Keyhole Earth Viewer. It was created by Keyhole, Inc, which was acquired by Google in 2004. The name "Keyhole" is an homage to the KH reconnaissance satellites, the original eye-in-the-sky military reconnaissance system first launched in 1976.

Podcasting -" The term is a blend of the words "iPod" and "broadcast", the Apple iPod being the brand of portable media player for which the first podcasting scripts were developed (see history of podcasting). Such scripts allow podcasts to be automatically transferred to a mobile device after they are downloaded. As more devices other than iPods became able to synchronize with podcast feeds, the term was redefined by some parties as an abbreviation for the backronym "Personal On Demand broadCASTING" (From Wikipedia) Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital media formats by its ability to be syndicated, subscribed to, and downloaded automatically when new content is added, using an aggregator or feed reader capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom.

Social media -- Facebook, MySpace, etc

Mobile media -- Twitter, cell phone news etc
