Vent's Poetry Corner

Everything
by Julie Brennan

The rain outside my window has slowed,
and though the clouds are thick and dark
they remain beautiful and calming.
My memories wander into the night
and suddenly I'm lying in your arms again.

The sound of your breathing fills the air;
it is almost like music.
If this is a dream, I do not wish to wake.
If I am awake, I do not want to fall asleep.
Not yet.

You whisper to me in the darkness,
pouring compliments over me as if they were water
to cleanse away all the things I was never told before.
You mention that you wish you could give me everything,
but I'm afraid you do not understand;
you already have.
