No Subject Posted by Some Anonymous Whim Reader i think the way this is drawn, lends me to think that the author of this cartoon is conceited. No Subject Posted by John These have gotten better. "liberal arts" vs "State School" Posted by Halley's Dad Radford is more liberal arts than most State schools which are compelled (perhaps)by numbers to require a student to declare a major and then take a required curriculum. If the typical student changes majors repeatedly then one eventually graduates with alot of "junk" courses and it takes more than 4 years. In a liberal arts environment there is less pressure to prematurely declare a major and schedule major-specific courses. Yet, the tradeoff is that the typical liberal arts student must go to grad school to develop adequate specialization in a major. Either way, college takes more than four years: the hassle for a tassle. Has Radford found a middle ground? |
