Mission
Statement
The mission of the United Methodist Student Center at Radford
University is to promote and support spiritual development,
theological reflection, religious tolerance and social awareness
among students, faculty and staff within the university community.
At its heart, Campus Ministry is a prophetic and pastoral
presence which seeks to enhance the spiritual and ethical
educational experience of the whole person, mind, body and
soul. This is to be done through outreach, counseling, programming
and access to a physical location.
The Center holds the church before students to remind them
of the presence and availability of a caring community and
a loving God. The Center also seeks out and responds to the
needs of individuals by ministering to them wherever they
are (both physically and spiritually) and in whatever ways
meet their needs. United Methodist Student Center's ministry
seeks to show the love of Christ in action and by so doing
to plant the seeds of love in individual lives, praying that
the seeds fall on fertile soil.
Vision Statement
The vision for the Wesley Foundation at Radford is that we
would be an authentic fellowship of young Christian adults
who are growing in the knowledge of God's life-altering love
and grace. These young adults will do nothing less than share
God's love and grace through ministry and programs with Radford
University and the greater community.

What
is Methodism?
The United Methodist churches in your area are part of a world-wide
church that holds to the basic teachings of Christianity,
and we consider ourselves part of the whole church of Jesus
Christ made up of many denominations.
Our more than 41,000 congregations around the world welcome
everyone who seeks to respond to God's love, to grow in spiritual
strength, and to participate in congregations providing support
and opportunities for service. All persons are welcome to
attend services and receive Holy Communion.
We are followers of Jesus Christ and give special emphasis
to certain Christian truths:
• Everyone can know God's love through Christ and be
changed. This is God's "amazing grace."
• This Grace fills us with an assurance that we are
God's beloved children, and gives us courage to live our lives
with strength, integrity, love and compassion.
• God wants us, both as individuals and as communities
to be better than we are. So we are active in applying God's
truth to our own lives, and to the larger communities of which
we are a part.
• While we are bound together by these truths, we celebrate
a wide diversity of opinions about many matters. John Wesley,
found of the Methodist movement, said that Methodists are
not defined by their opinions but by how much they love God
and "shed God's love abroad in the world."
United Methodism is an "amazing connection" of persons
called by God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and walking in
the footsteps of the risen Christ. We invite you to journey
with us.
