Seven Rocks Project

It is called Seven Rocks after the band I am in.

It is on a SEVERE Budget because lack of personal funding.

The carburetor as I found it.

Parts taken off by the previous owner.

Hrmm??? Look what I found.

Lucky for me I have already done this repair on my friends truck. Time, a welder, and some steel is all I need to make it like it never happened.

So the build is on.

This week I tore it down to the frame so I can fix the frame and any spots on the body that need it. I'm waiting for some frame parts to arrive and a welder to start surgery.

Here is some more pictures during the tear down.

So I bought some 63" Chevy 1/2 ton springs from the Pick-N-Pull for $74 for a spring swap. They are sitting next to the truck waiting for me to be able to afford the welder to weld them on. Today I borrowed a sand blaster from a friend of mine (thanks Aaron) to get parts squeeky clean for some new paint. The plan at this point is to get the frame patched up and painted, the set of Chevy springs installed with the rears up front, and prep the body for a base paint. The over all goal is to get it on the road/trail by fall. LOTS TO DO!!!!

Well this is what the project is looking like. I cleaned up the frame and axles and used some rust remover stuff to get rid of the left over rust and prep the metal so I could panit it. It is looking good.

I bought the welder only to find out that I am not very happy with it. I can't expect much from a 110V 85amp welder though. I knew that it wouldn't do the big stuff but about the only thing that I can really do with it is sheet metal. I was hoping that it would at least be able to weld 1/8in stuff. Anyway I still have a use for it. I will probably put it on Craigs list once I am done using it.

Today my friend Aaron came by and helped me install the front axle of the truck. Basically to start seeing what it is going to look like and check stuff for fit. Looks like I am going to need longer shocks all around. I also shoved the rear axle under just to test fit some other stuff and see what this monster is going to look like. It is starting to come together. You can see in the pictures my plans for the position of the gas tank. I am trying to keep it as low as possible and center it in the truck.

As it stands right now I am waiting for a new horse collar from 4X innovations to come in and for me to scrounge up enough money to order the spring hangers I need, U-bolt flip kits, shock mounts, and some other misc parts. It is on hold until then. Then it is off to get welded.

So after waiting a month for the horse collar to be shipped I Recieved it. In that time I was able to come up with enought money to buy the spring hangers, Rear U-bolt flip kit, and shock mounts. I also took that time to build a bumper with LED tail and brake lights as well as a 2" hitch.

Once all the parts were recieved away I went hacking and tack welding in patches and parts.

Then it was off to my friends for the final welding. Here is the almost finished frame.

I just bought some 14" Procomps that will allow for plenty of flex in the rear. The front I haven't figured what I am going to do. Money is the Key.

Now it is on to the cab. I have decied to go to an International Harverster White.

I have some sheet metal to weld into the floor board to hide the ground below. Then finish paint and install the wind shield and put everything back together.

I am looking to get this thing off road in the next 2 months if time and $$$ allows.

So the cab is almost done. The new color is exactly what I was looking for. Almost all the internals are in but I am still needing to get the front window in to keep out the rain. Still lots of little stuff to do to get it going. It is looking good.
