Dr. French examines organizational communication and is particularly
interested in the rhetoric of business leaders, relationships between
rhetoric and technology, 20th century public address, and rhetorical
theory and criticism.
Dr. French's dissertation chronicles the reputation of Bill Gates, examining Gates' various public reputations and explores the impact of those images on public conversations regarding technology's role in contemporary society. Other current research projects include papers on the use of the Internet as a site of public commemoration, and a study of the Clinton White House as the first to create a White House website.
